Who inspires you personally as a bassist?

When i first started listening to Jaco Pastorius it really changed the way i approached playing, so i’d say he’s definitely a big inspiration. Victor Wooten really inspires me to push my funk chops and I think Flea is really great at playing technical lines while still being solid and fulfilling the bassists role.

What is your favorite Captain Stu song?

I really love playing Tempo cos it’s got a really bouncy groove to it that makes me amped no matter how kak i could be feeling.

What is your favourite album of all time?

It’s constantly changing, at the moment I’d say it’s Dr. Boondigga & The Big BW by Fat Freddy’s Drop.

What age did you start playing and why did you choose your instrument?

I started playing bass when I was 15. I didn’t play any instruments before that but i really wanted to start a band. I had friends that played guitar and drums but none that played bass, so I thought i’d fill in the blanks and learn to play it.

In your spare time what do u do?

I have so little spare time that when I do I like to relax as much as possible, drink some beers, go to some gigs, read some comics and ride my unicycle.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was 10 I used to tell people that i wanted to be a graphic designer. I had no idea what that was but i had heard it somewhere and thought it sounded cool. Funnily enough thats what I do as a day job now.

Before that i remember wanting to be a deep sea diver.

Coffee or tea?

I honestly only drink either out of necessity for caffeine… I prefer hot chocolate if given a choice.

Tidal waves always put on an amazing show, so do 340ml.
