Seeing as we’ve got a sweet new EP on the way we decided to shoot a music video for one of the tracks. So this weekend we rented some puke-stained fancy dress costumes and video equipment and headed on the biggest mission around Cape Town we’ve been on since Matt tried to track down the one and only chick thats ever responded positively to the sexual harassment he routinely shouts from open car windows.

shooting 18 locations in 2 days was an incredibly sweaty task made no easier by the man-camel toe inducing outfits. It was however an awesome weekend and the footage is looking amazing.

A special thanks goes out to Richard “Dick balls” Bolland for directing, filming, editing, not masturbating too much on set and owning a camera. Thanks also to Brandon, Sophie, Emma, Jess, Dom, Poo-Leg Greg and all the sexy extras for being absolute players and helping make the shoot a success.

We’ve been up to a few things of varying legal status lately but amongst the most exciting was our One Small Seed shoot on Saturday. The pop-culture magazine mavericks gave each band member R50 to procure an outfit from a 2nd hand store and then head to the studio to pull some sexy poses in front of a camera in our brand new (but really horribly old) attire. So we headed to Mowbray, where people who’ve died’s clothes go to die, to find the 5 most ridiculous/hideous/garish and of course, in true Captain Stu style, gay outfits imaginable. To see the result you’re gonna have to get your paws an the new One Small Seed magazine, which will be out next month.

After inflicting a significant amount of damage to previously cheery photographers eyes we hit the road to Stellies for our  gig with New Holland and Dance,You’reOnFire. Both bands were tighter than a nun’s … um … grasp of scripture and the ridiculously cheep mushroom sauce burgers, cold draughts and awesomely receptive crowd finished things off better than an asian masseuse.

The official Captain Stuvuzela is a sturdy, plastic, B-flat horn that converts within seconds to a 500ml beer mug. They are available in 6 freaking sweet colours, are dishwasher safe and are the official vuvuzela of the Fifa 2010 World Cup. We’ll be selling them at all of our shows and if we sell enough we might be able to pay the bail when we get arrested for writing Fifa 2010 world Cup without their permission. Oh shit, i did it again… my bad.

Our tame trombonist (who moonlights as a shady online pedoohile poker player) Mathew Willis has been given the awesome opportunity of going to Vegas for a month to play poker and marry a pre-op transvestite stripper. So for the next insanely busy, football fan-filled month we’re gonna have our old buddy and ex Captain Stu member Clement “The Clemforcer” Carr filling in on sexyphone and  keyplank. 

On friday we celebrated Ryk becoming a man, well the surgery in only scheduled for late August but it was also his 21st birthday so we just partied anyway. The night was a surreal contest of fancy-dress delinquents attempting to out-offend each other with their costumes, out-cheese each other with their karaoke song choice and out-drink each other with the free beer. Needless to say we all thinned the blood, spoke loads of shit, got frostbite, threw cellphones out of car windows, affixed dildo’s to our chests, lost our underwear and had some damn tasty chicken wings.

So you guys may have been wondering where we’ve been since our last gig, which was just before the dinosaurs died off due to a mass suicide cult started by a crafty pterodactyl, and the answer is quite simple. We’ve been drawing penises on things, making coffee, seeing how many days in a row we can wear the same trousers, making rather a large mess and writing, crafting, rewritng, scrapping, re-looking and finally recording some new songs for our upcoming EP. 

As you can see, cousin It very kindly offered us his studio, which was awesome.

But even more awesome (though and slightly less Adams Familyish) was that we’ve had the privilege of recording our 5 new tracks with SAMA winning (and goth-chick digging) producer/engineer Neal Snyman. Which has been more awesome than a deep-fried pizza burger.

We’ve almost finished all of the tracking and are really excited about how it’s sounding so far. We’ll be keeping you posted on the progress as well as the sweet launch party we’re organising.

Big thanks to the two of them for coming round this weekend and making us even hornier than usual (except for Mat who is physically unable to get any hornier than he already is).

We’ve been taking a break from gigging over the last month so that we can work on our new EP, which we’ll be releasing in the next couple of months. Next Saturday we’re going into HeyPapaLegend studios to begin tracking so we’ve been busy recording scratch tracks and doing pre-production in our top secret, underground hideout / a bedroom at Ryk & Jon’s house.

It can be described as being very much like the bat cave only far more awesome.
